Calls to Action

Our democracy is under attack like never before. Authoritarian voices are growing louder, freedoms we’ve long relied on are being chipped away, and too many people are being made to feel powerless. But our democracy only works when we show up to defend it.

The good news? Courage is contagious and each of us has a role to play. Together, our voices are stronger than those trying to silence us. Here’s how you can take action right now:

  • Sign the Pledge

Add your name at WeHoldTruths.org to affirm your commitment to freedom, equality, and democracy, and encourage your network to do the same.

Help spread the word by posting about We Hold These Truths. Use our ready-to-go graphics, or share your own reflections on why these values matter.

  • Record a Short Video

Film a quick 45–60 second message on your phone about why democracy matters to you. We will share select videos across our platforms to inspire others.

  • Host a Dinner, Salon, or Community Gathering

Participate in Democracy Forward’s Dinners for Democracy or Coffees for Change. Bring people together to talk about the Constitution, our shared values, and how to act locally. This can be as simple as a living-room conversation, a backyard dinner, or a virtual gathering.

  • Engage Locally

Attend public meetings or forums to show your leaders their community is paying attention.

Meet with city council or school board members about issues that matter to you.

Volunteer for or participate in local elections.

Become a poll worker, canvass, or host a campaign event.

Donate to or volunteer with local nonprofits and grassroots groups.

  • Connect & Build Bridges

Host or participate in conversations that bring together people with different perspectives.

Partner with campus groups, faith communities, or local organizations to expand dialogue.

It will take all of us to protect & defend people, their rights, and our future.
